Some
techie stuff about the WebCam
1) Its up dated every three seconds
2) It uses a Connectix camera
3) Linux web sever exporting a PPM file that travels from the top of the chimney (3 floors
up over looking Creek side) 150 feet of cat 5 cable.
4) The ppm file then goes into a NT4.0 box running IIs 4 where a batch file is running to
convert the PPM into a JPEG
5) The JPEG file then over writes the old JPEG . Finally the web page is pointed to this
Image.
6) The camara has a 83 degree wide angle lens on it with a polarizer filter. This makes
the picture a little dark but stops the white outs on sunny day and gives a wide veiw.
6) Its housing in a Polycarbonate Ray Dome made by myself. Its been running for a year now
from -30 cel to +20 cel.
